Meow Kitties!

     My whirlwind 1-week Hello Kitty summer adventure was everything my kitty dreams could have imagined and so much more! It has been one week post vacation and the jet lag hangover is definitely a drag, but the kitti-ful memories still have me grinning like a Cheshire Cat.

     The Hello Kitty House in Bangkok, Thailand is truly a mini kitty heaven! When I first heard the news that a Hello Kitty cafe was opening in August 2014, my travel plans were already set in motion. My half Thai heritage was pouncing with excitement and pride and I was ready to go back to my mother's homeland! In June 2015, EVA airlines announced their collaboration with Sanrio in providing customers the experience of flying the skies and traveling in Hello Kitty style. This was the purr-fect opportunity. Tickets booked and luggages packed! It was take-off time for my kitty adventure!

     I stayed at the luxurious Hotel Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square, which is surrounded by the best shopping centers and eateries of Bangkok, and is simply one block from the beloved Hello Kitty House. Even if your main destination was not to venture the Hello Kitty House, it is a must lodging for travelers who crave the entertainment and excitement of Bangkok life.

     Caturday was dedicated to exploring the Hello Kitty House from top to bottom! It is four stories of kitty fun! The moment you step inside, the adorable ambience envelops your kitty senses. On the right, there is an outdoor bar area is where the shaved ice with mango treats are made including various Hello Kitty themed ice cream bars. To your left, displays of delectable Hello Kitty cakes and cupcakes tempt you to take a scrumptious bite. But what really captures your attention is the overwhelmingly charming dining area with plush pink chairs and an ovoid wooden table all decked out with a Hello Kitty scheme.



     When you can pull yourself away from all the kawaii kitty decor, climb the white staircase to the Hello Kitty shop boutique. Although modest in size, the unique merchandise limited to this location is more than enough reason to splurge on everything you know will force fit in your luggage to take back home. Despite the small-scale franchise store, half of a Hello Kitty pink car easily parks right in front of the cash register! You can even take a drive by photo op! Be sure to brake for kitties!


     When you are done with the shopping spree and you know you reached your weight limit on your luggage, put your newly purchased Hello Kitty treasures away for safe keeping and enter the deluxe Hello Kitty spa located on the same floor with the boutique.

     I highly recommend choosing the gel polish with Hello Kitty nail art for the most adorable manicure. I admit it was difficult to peruse the bounteous options and choose one design, but I most definitely fell in love with my pastel colored backdrop with Hello Kitty and various Sanrio characters dancing across my nails. The foot spa with nail polish added service was definitely a worthwhile refreshing treatment for my tired traveling paws. You can also choose from a menu of services including facial and body massages, facial and body waxing, eyelash extension, and eyebrow and lip tattooing, Be sure to bring a kitty friend to enjoy the experience too!

     After your much deserved spa treatment, it's dessert time! After much window perusing, I selected the "Candy Cream Cheese" cake, "Rainbow Crepe" cake, "Twinkle Rainbow" cake, and the large Hello Kitty Thai Golden Mango! Be sure to wash down all the kitty sweetness with a refreshing drink in the Hello Kitty collectible tumbler! Hint: try the Hello Kitty Pink Milk Tea!

      Kitty travelers will want to be sure to set aside half a day to extensively experience the Hello Kitty House to its fullest. My kitty adventure lasted about a mere 4.5 hours. Empty your photo gallery because kitty travelers will want to snapshot every moment of this unforgettable adventure.

      Despite the 24 hour travel time, monsoon seasonal rain, unbearable fierce heat, and shoulder to shoulder walkways, I would do it all over again quicker than a cat's reflex. It was a grand kitty adventure!
